Description of HDPE PE100-RC Pipe for Water & Gas
PE100-RC, which stands for resistant to cracks, is a modified version of PE100 designed to offer superior performance and extended service life. This enhancement provides the pipes with significantly improved resistance to mechanical damage, such as surface notching and sharp point loads from stones, encountered during their operational lifespan.
RC pipes are manufactured using PE100 with high resistance to Slow Crack Growth (SCG), verified through rigorous tests including the Full Notch Creep Test (FNCT) and Point Loading Test (PLT). These tests confirm a resistance value of at least 100 years under severe damage conditions, whether real or simulated. The pipes comply with standards such as UNI EN 12201, ISO 4427, and UNI EN ISO 15494.
PE100-RC, also referred to as Extreme Stress Crack Resistant (ESCR) or High-Stress Crack Resistant (HSCR) compounds, is defined in the German standard PAS 1075:2009-04. These compounds are engineered to provide over 100 years of resistance to traditional SCG failures caused by rock impingement and point loading stress.
